This is Southland's 50th anniversary celebration and we hope you enjoy the show! This Fall Show will be supported in conjunction with the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens, and will include the American Orchid Society Fall Meeting. The AOS has sponsored this meeting and is partnering with the Huntington and Southland, so that this year's Fall Members Meeting will be a good chance for AOS members to get updated on what is happening with the AOS and to have a wonderful venue for their meeting. The orchid show is October 16-18, 2009, with the concurrent AOS Members Meeting October 14-17, 2009. The hotel chosen for the AOS Members Meeting is the Embassy Suites Hotel, 211 East Huntington Drive, Arcadia, California, United States 91006. The hotel is about a 15 minute drive to the Huntington where the meetings will be. We will have a bus running between the hotel and the Huntington all day during the AOS meeting that will be part of the registration costs. The hotel cost is $149.00 per night. This includes a hot breakfast each morning, free internet service, and a managers special each afternoon with snacks and drinks. There is an extra $15.00 per night charge for an extra person. We have a block of rooms in the hotel system. The AOS Members Meeting attendees can make reservations from the following two options: 1. Call the hotel directly at 626-445-8525 or the central reservations at 1-800-EMBASSY and ask for the American Orchid Meeting rate or Group Code "XOS" to get the $149.00 rate. 2. Go to the Embassy Suites website at www.arcadia.embassysuites.com . Once you are in the website, kindly enter the dates of your check-in and check-out located at the right-hand center corner of the website. You will then be directed to the next page, where you will select your reservation details. Under the Special Accounts Section, please enter "XOS" (don't enter quotes) under the Group / Convention Code area. Your $149.00 rate will appear with a choice of a king or 2 double beds. The link for the registration packet will be available on this site shortly! The Southland Orchid Show Committee will need additional help and volunteers for the future shows. To make these shows a success, we will need further involvement at the grass roots level from each of the southern California orchid societies and individual members.
